On the subject of best books of last year, the best collection of non-fiction writing I read was Geoff Dyer's brilliantly opinionated, antagonistic, deeply discursive collection Working The Room. I always like Dyer, and although I didn't really connect with about half of this book, the other half more than made up for it. A truly original voice creates a great collection. Honourable mention must go -surprise, surprise- to The Hare With the Amber Eyes.

My Favourite Fiction Writing Of 2011.
On the subject of best books of last year, the best collection of non-fiction writing I read was Geoff Dyer's brilliantly opinionated, antagonistic, deeply discursive collection Working The Room. I always like Dyer, and although I didn't really connect with about half of this book, the other half more than made up for it. A truly original voice creates a great collection.
